From 1 to 25 September 2011 in Bucharest takes place the XXth Edition of 'George Enescu Festival'. During the festival in Bucharest take place a series of concerts of orchestras and solists from different countries, as well as numerous cultural event. The concerts are divided into several categories. One of them is "XXIst music"
These concerts, contrary to the rest, do not take place in the The Romanian Atheneum nor "I.L. Caragiale" National Theatre, but in the "Mihail Jora" Hall of the Romanian Radio Society. Additionally, the tickets are 10 times cheaper - only 7 RON (so just 1/3 of a ticket for "Conan 3D....) Does it mean that people will pay more for concert if someone earlier says that "it is good" (like it is with the 'older music')?......
Nevermind. As (so far? :) I have nothing against going for the concert to the lest prestigious place, together with Dear E. we went for the concert of Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, just to begin my stay in Bucharest. Programme:
Henri Dutilleux - Mystère de l’instant
Anatol Vieru - Concerto no. 1 for cello and orchestra
With the participation of the cellist LAURA BURUIANĂ
Arvo Pärt - Symphony no. 4 "Los Angeles"
Luckily, some gentleman (later it turned out that he was a violinist) gave us 2 free tickets. He warned us that this will be " a very difficult music". Apparently we did not look like someone who like "very difficult music".....
Waiting for the concert, we were admiring the building and interiors:
The concert definitively did not let down. The compositions were surprisingly melodic and rhythmical, as for contemporary music. Interestingly, none of listeners fell asleep, as it happens from time to time at "Warsaw Autumn".....
